Happy (late) Easter ^^

Hiya!

I know it’s a bit late, but I didn’t have prepared the blog on time for this post :D.  Anyway^^, in my family it’s tradition to paint boiled eggs for Easter, and eat them on Sunday.

An extract from Wikipedia explains very well the origin of those painted Easter eggs:

“The egg was a symbol of the rebirth of the earth in celebrations of spring and was adopted by early Christians as a symbol of the resurrection of Jesus. The oldest tradition is to use dyed or painted chicken eggs, but a modern custom is to substitute chocolate eggs, or plastic eggs filled with confectionery such as jelly beans. These eggs are often hidden, allegedly by the Easter Bunny, for children to find on Easter morning. Otherwise, they are generally put in a basket filled with real or artificial straw to resemble a birds’s nest.”

I still remember when I was young and looked for hidden eggs ^^.

And of course, this year I couldn’t miss the opportunity to take some pictures of Nia surrounded by those colorful Easter eggs, and chocolate bunnies :))

Colorful desu ne?^^

I  like this close up :)

Oh!!!  The eggs hatched xD

I added some pictures to show how have I done the painting process.

You have to add in a ¼ liter of cold water, 2 tablespoons of vinegar and then pour the little bottle of paint in the bowl.

You have to keep the eggs hot in the same boiling water and then put them one by one in the bowl, leave it there for 4 minutes while stilling with a spoon.

Remove it from the bowl and let it dry on a towel.

Nowadays, you can find all kinds of egg paint, such as metallic style or with stickies. After you color the egg with the base color, add the metallic color with the tips of your finger and smudge it on the egg surface, then let it dry again.

For the stikies, just paint the eggs in yellow or orange first, let dry, put the sticky and then repaint with a different and darker color, and when you remove the sticky, you get the silhouette of the bunny ^^.

And done!

PD: In some countries they paint eggs like this :o
